The Ministry of Education is to advance money to any schools experiencing cash flow problems due to errors in the new payroll system, Novopay.
The offer applies to schools where staff have been over-paid from school accounts.
The ministry said on Thursday it had fixed a problem that gave schools inaccurate payroll reports, making it difficult to calculate annual staffing entitlements.
It believes that problems with Novopay will improve over time.
