Pair granted bail in Featherston homicide case

Two women charged in relation to the death of a Featherston man have been granted bail.

Glen Jones, 40, was found with severe head injuries at his home in Fitzherbert Street about 12.15am on 12 January and died in Wellington hospital later that day.

Five people are charged with aggravated burglary and possession of an axe handle and a wooden bat and appeared in the Masterton District Court on Friday.

Toni Miller, 22, and a 32-year-old woman, who has name suppression, were granted bail by Judge Bruce Davidson.

Matthew McKinney, 28, Hayden Ranson, 27, and Kristofer Jones, 23, did not seek bail and were remanded in custody until 7 February.

Meanwhile, a funeral service for Mr Jones was held in Featherston on Friday. The hall where the ceremony was conducted was full and a large crowd gathered outside.
