The sentencing of a youth who admitted killing a Scottish backpacker in Taupo in 2008 has been delayed.

Jahche Broughton, 15, was to be sentenced this week in Rotorua High Court, but this has been delayed until 26 March.

Karen Aim was on a working holiday and died from severe head injuries near her Taupo flat in January last year.

Broughton pleaded guilty to her murder at a pre-trial hearing in Auckland on 5 February, three days before the trial was to begin.
