Businesses in Newmarket near an overbridge that remains closed after cracks were found in it, are beginning to feel the loss of traffic.
Contractors worked overnight on the Remuera Road bridge, but there are still problems.
Detours are in place for road traffic. Trains are travelling underneath at a reduced speed of 19km per hour.
But a nearby convenience shop owner says he lost about $500 of the normal day's takings, because of the closure on Tuesday afternoon.
A nearby cafe manager is also upset she's received no official information. She also expects the closure to affect business.
It's thought the bridge could be closed for up to 48 hours. However, it is still open to pedestrians.
