Dotcom apologises for new website's problems

Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom has apologised for teething problems with his new website.

Mega.co.nz went live on Saturday and replaces Mr Dotcom's former Megaupload site, which has been shut down by United States authorities for alleged copyright infringement - the biggest case of its kind in the world.

Almost as soon as the new website began running people started having problems, including extremely slow access.

Mr Dotcom apologised via Twitter on Tuesday for the poor service quality, saying the massive global PR around the launch was simply too big to handle.

He expected normal operations within two days.
