ACC Minister Nick Smith has confirmed that the cost of motor vehicle registration will increase from 1 July, but will not say by how much.
The Government has said that, due to cost blow-outs, big changes will have to be made to the Accident Compensation scheme and restrictions on existing cover are being considered.
Officials have advised Dr Smith that to meet the costs of the scheme, annual motor vehicle registration should be increased this year by more than $120. Dr Smith says the cost will have to go up - but not by that much.
