Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce says he has made sure the Australian company behind the Novopay payroll system is in no doubt about the seriousness of problems with the error-plagued system.
Mr Joyce was given responsibility for Novopay in a Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday and met representatives of Talent2, the company that developed Novopay, on Thursday.
Novopay made its first pay of the year on Wednesday.
Mr Joyce said he wanted Talent2 to be clear about what people think of the problems that have affected school payrolls since its introduction in August.
He would not comment on who is to blame for the problems, or on whether they have been sufficient to trigger penalty payments by Talent2.
