A Hamilton man has been jailed for two years for selling child pornography on the internet.

Jian He, 28, admitted four charges under the Copyright Act including selling copyrighted movies, and 27 charges of possessing, making or selling objectionable material.

The material included child pornography which was sold on a Mandarin language website.

He was sentenced on Friday at the Hamilton District Court.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall hopes the punishment sends a clear warning to those involved in such activity that there are ways of detecting them.
