A fire in Franklin on Sunday scorched about four hectares of scrub as it burned for more than five hours.
Strong winds fanned the flames of the large scrub fire on Harrisville Road, between Tuakau and Pukekohe, which started just before 5pm on Sunday.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Tania Matthews said the fire was finally brought under control about 10pm.
Firefighters are also battling a large blaze in a paddock near Morrinsville on Sunday.
