One person has died and another has been taken to hospital following a crash near Dunedin.
Police say a man driving a small four-wheel-drive died at the scene after colliding with a truck on the Taieri Plains between Allanton and Waihola about 2pm on Monday.
The truck driver has been taken to Dunedin Hospital for a check-up, police say.
Traffic is being diverted from the crash site State Highway 1.
The road is expected to be closed until late on Monday afternoon while the serious crash unit investigates and the scene is cleared.
