Police in Taupo say they have growing concerns for a man missing since Friday.
Leighton Kerry Grant, 35, left the central North Island town on Friday evening, but failed to return on Saturday night as planned.
His car was found on Monday at Hallets Bay just south of Hatepe on the shores of Lake Taupo.
Police say there is general concern for Mr Grant's state of mind and warn that his reaction to being approached may be unpredictable.
A search on the shore and lake is taking place on Tuesday.
