Sentencing date for incest charge delayed

7:20 pm on 1 February 2013

The father of a Lower Hutt woman charged with murdering her newborn baby has had his sentencing date for incest delayed.

The baby was found wrapped in a towel on a Taita property in September last year and the woman's father has since pleaded guilty to incest.

Judge Bruce Davidson moved the sentencing back because further charges of sexual violation are still to be heard.

The woman is in psychiatric care.

The man will reappear in Wellington District Court on 21 June.
