Detective Inspector Dave Lynch believes more than one person may have been involved in the death of Shalvin Prasad, who would have been 22 on 3 February.

Two cars, one similar to Mr Prasad's vehicle, were seen leaving the scene just before police arrived.

On Saturday, help was sought from the public to find Mr Prasad's vehicle.

Detective Inspector Lynch said it was seen on Sunday outside an industrial premises on Plunkett Avenue in Papatoetoe.

An extensive forensic examination of the vehicle is now being conducted.

Police are trying to find out how long it may have been there, and are interested to hear from any business owners in the Plunkett Avenue Area that have CCTV camera footage.

Mr Prasad had no links to drugs and had no debt.

Police said he did something out of the ordinary on Wednesday, that may provide a motive.

Mr Prasad's funeral will be held on Monday.
