Detectives have identified a body found on a street in Ngaruawahia as a 16-year-old local boy.
Officers are checking to see if a window smashed at the nearby fire station is linked to the death.
The police say it is too early to say how he died.
The case has been referred to the Coroner and a post-mortem is likely to be carried out in Auckland on Monday.
