West Coast plane crash pilot named

The pilot of a microlight aircraft who died when the plane crashed in a paddock in Buller has been named as Darrell Peter Williams, 60, from Carters Beach near Westport.

Police say Mr Williams was killed instantly when his aircraft suddenly nose-dived into the ground south of Inangahua Junction, at about 11am on Sunday.

The Civil Aviation Authority has begun an investigation into the incident.
