Recruitment company heartened by support

A company caught in the collapse of Mainzeal says it is surprised and heartened by the level of support received from customers in Wellington.

The construction company announced it was going into receivership on Wednesday.

Key Skills Recruitment in Lower Hutt had 20 subcontractors working on the Mainzeal contract at Victoria University's Kelburn campus.

Employees were initially barred from the site, but have since obtained their tools and moved on to different jobs.

Key Skills director Ailsa McGavin says offers of new work came from companies who knew they would be struggling.

She says the help was unexpected but very welcome, at a time when she thought her company's future was bleak.
