No way for council to cover axed school bus routes

6:45 pm on 11 February 2013

The Waikato Regional Council says it does not have enough money or buses to cover 10 school bus routes that are being axed in 2014.

The Ministry of Education says the routes will be cut from the start of next year to save doubling up with the council's own services.

A councillor, Paula Southgate, says it won't be possible to reroute or put on extra buses to cover the shortfall.

She say students unable to get a school bus after the changes come into force will have to use public transport.
