Local authority revenues increased 7.4% in the final six months of last year.

Statistics New Zealand figures show local authority incomes rose 4.3% in the December quarter, to $1.69 billion.

The quarterly income was boosted by a 44.5% rise in investment income.

Statistics New Zealand says investment income was boosted by dividends, which tend to be paid in the final three months of the year.

There had been a 3.1% increase in revenue in the September quarter.
