Lincoln courses to better reflect job market

Lincoln University says it is looking at a raft of course changes to make qualifications better reflect a changing job market.

The tertiary institution is considering cutting between 50 and 100 of its 320 undergraduate courses to focus on four broad portfolios - agriculture, business and commerce, science and environmental management.

Assistant vice-chancellor Sheelagh Matear said on Tuesday courses will be cut or redeveloped, depending on their relevance to the modern working environment.

Ms Matear will spend the next fortnight meeting with employers and industry representatives to find out what skills young employees need.

She has confirmed that job cuts are likely as a result of the proposed changes.
