Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of Shalvin Prasad, whose body was found burning two weeks ago.

The charred body of the 21-year-old was found in burning scrub in the Auckland suburb of Kingseat on 31 January.

The accused, aged 18 and 20, made a brief appearance in the Manukau District Court on Friday and were remanded in custody for a week.

Judge Jonathan Moses granted the pair interim name suppression.

He also suppressed the contents of the police summary of facts and any other details that may lead to their identity.

The accused are due to reappear in court on 22 February.
