Police are seeking information from anyone contacted by a man accused of using the social networking website Facebook to inappropriately contact young women.

A 20-year-old Hutt Valley man appeared in the Lower Hutt District Court on Tuesday charged with blackmail and sexual grooming.

The man was granted interim name suppression and remanded on bail to reappear on 12 March.

Police say they are aware that the man had three fake Facebook accounts - one under the alias of Nick Davis.

All of the accused's accounts will be monitored by police while the bail order is in place.

Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard, of Hutt Valley, says police were alerted to the man after two separate complaints from women on 12 February.

Mr Barnard says police would like to hear from anyone else who has been contacted by a Facebook account holder named Nick Davis.
