A police officer attacked in the cells at Picton police station has been released from hospital.
The officer had arrested a man for disorderly behaviour on Thursday morning and had just un-handcuffed him when the man attacked him, punching him repeatedly in the face.
The officer suffered concussion, black eyes, lacerations and bruising and is now recovering at home on Friday.
A man appeared in court on Thursday afternoon charged with wounding with intent to injure.
