The Save Centennial group says it will take its case to the Office of the Ombudsman after the Christchurch City Council voted to demolish the inner-city pool.

The group appeared at the council meeting on Thursday, asking that the earthquake-damaged complex be repaired. The plea was voted down eight to five.

Save Centennial spokesperson Simone Pearson says she is bitterly disappointed, but the fight is not over.

Ms Pearson says she questions the legal justification for acquiring the piece of land Centennial Pool is on and will take the case to the Ombudsman.

She says if public facilities are not available, people willnot move back into the city centre.
