Screaming and laughing coming from a maze near Christchurch has resulted in its closure.
The Horror Maze near Prebbleton has generated multiple complaints from neighbours about noise, nuisance, traffic and disruption to residents late at night.
Tim Harris from the Selwyn District Council says monitoring showed noise levels exceeded those permitted in the District Plan.
Mr Harris says following a notice of enforcement action from the council, the operators of the maze have closed it.
They have applied for a resource consent from the council to resume operations.
