Further win in battle against bovine TB

9:10 pm on 6 March 2013

The Animal Health Board which leads the battle against bovine tuberculosis on farms says further progress in its control programme means it has been able to reduce movement restrictions and testing on almost 4000 cattle and deer herds.

The board is aiming to eradicate the disease in New Zealand by controlling possums and other wild animals that spread TB, restricting the movement of infected herds and testing cattle and deer.

The latest changes will ease movement restrictions on 50 herds in the South Island and reduce testing on more than 3500 herds in Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Wanganui and Canterbury.
