Softball New Zealand says it will be pushing for more funding after the Black Sox team won the world championship for the sixth time.
New Zealand beat Venezuela 4-1 at Rosedale Park in Auckland on Sunday.
Softball New Zealand says it gets about $450,000 in annual funding from High Performance Sport New Zealand for the team.
General manager Dane Dougan said finding sponsorship is a challenge and more money is needed.
He said the funding model is based on team success, so he is confident the Black Sox can secure more investment .
Mr Dougan said about 33,000 New Zealanders play softball.
