Council continues flower show support

The Christchurch City Council says the Ellerslie International Flower Show will remain in Christchurch despite the visitor turnout this year of about 45,000 people being slightly down on last year's event.

The festival's organisers had expected the festival would attract about 50,000 people.

The Christchurch City Council marketing unit manager, Richard, Stoke, says the council is satisfied with this year's event and they will continue to support it financially.

He says the council will carry out a market research survey to get public feedback and incorporate it into future events.

The first show held in Christchurch in 2009 attracted 79,000 visitors.
