Triple manslaughter appeal rejected

A man convicted of manslaughter for deliberately crashing a car into a bus, killing three young people, in 2010 has had his appeal rejected.

Worthy Redeemed was jailed for 14 years in October last year for the manslaughter of Jethro Cooper, Kodee Rapana and the car's driver, Dean McCartney.

Redeemed was a front-seat passenger, when he yanked the car's steering wheel, sending it into an oncoming bus.

He appealed against his conviction at the Court of Appeal, arguing new evidence would show he was not guilty.

The court dismissed the appeal, but did reduce Redeemed's sentence by six months.

He will now spend a minimum of six years nine months in jail before he is eligible for parole.
