An 18-year-old man is in a critical but stable condition after being hit by a truck at Kaikoura in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man was walking on State Highway 1 at about 4am when he was hit .
He was treated at the scene by a doctor and then flown to Christchurch Hospital.
Police investigators are working to establish the cause of the crash.
