Boys found riding on outside of passenger train

Police say two teenage boys are lucky to be alive after riding on the outside of a passenger train

A train worker pulled the pair into the train, which was travelling from Masterton to Wellington, and they were held at Carterton station until police arrived.

Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr says the boys were taken to their parents, who were not pleased by their behaviour. He says it was a stupid thing to do and could have had serious consequences.

He says officers have spoken to the pair and no charges have been laid.
