Lawyer on way to Japan to represent Collins

A lawyer acting for Jerry Collins is on his way to Japan to provide legal representation for the former All Black.

Collins has been in custody in Japan since early last week after being found with a 17-centimetre knife in a department store in Hamamatsu.

His contract with the Yamaha Jubilo rugby club expired last month but his lawyer, Tim Castle, says he had been staying in Japan to look for the next step in his playing career.

Mr Castle says Collins is still in custody while the case is investigated further, both by the prosecution authorities and by his own defence lawyers.
