A gorse fire has burned close to homes in a Wellington suburb.
Fire crews were called to the suburb of Houghton Bay about 10.30am on Thursday.
About 30 firefighters fought the blaze and the Fire Service said some 200 square metres of gorse had gone up in flames.
Three houses are nearby but there had been no order to evacuate them.
