A cyclist has died after a collision with a car in South Canterbury on Thursday evening.
It's the first confirmed death of the Easter road toll, which began at 4pm.
Police say the incident happened about 6pm near Temuka, north of Timaru.
The ambulance service says a 50-year-old man died 45 minutes after they arrived at the scene.
