A body has been found on rocks near Wenderholm, north of Auckland.
Police say staff from the police launch Deodar recovered the body at the high tide mark on Friday morning.
They are carrying out enquiries to identify the person.
Searchers have been looking for a missing boatie in the area for the past five days.
Donald Ravenscroft, 73, was last heard from on Sunday while on his yacht in Mahurangi Harbour near Warkworth, north of Wenderholm.
His dinghy was later found tied to a tree across the harbour.
Police say Mr Ravenscroft may have swum after it when it drifted away from his launch.
