The Easter holiday road toll has climbed to five, with police appealing to motorists to drive safely over the long weekend.
The official road toll period began at 4pm on Thursday and ends on Tuesday at 6am.
A police northern communications spokesperson said on Friday one man died in a crash near Whangarei.
Two people have died following a crash at Otara in South Auckland.
A person died in car crash in Wellsford, north of Auckland, just after midday on Friday, while another person died in a crash in Morrinsville, in Waikato, about 9am.
