A body found on the coast north of Auckland is believed to be that of a missing boatie.
Donald Ravenscroft, 73, was last heard from on 24 March while he was on his yacht in Mahurangi Harbour near Warkworth.
Sergeant Michael Rickards says police recovered a body from rocks near Wenderholm on Friday morning.
The body will be formally identified on Monday, but police believe it is Mr Ravenscroft.
Friends and family joined police and Navy dive squads during an extensive search for him this week.
Police say Mr Ravenscroft may have swum after his dinghy when it drifted away from the launch.
