Golfer Danny Lee has signed with the IMG sports management company in a deal believed to be worth about $17.5 million.

David Rollo of IMG says there will be a formal announcement from Melbourne on Wednesday, but there's no way the company will disclose what the deal is worth.

Lee, 18, of Rotorua, will play his first tournament as a professional at next week's Zurich Classic in New Orleans and Rollo says sponsorship deals may be announced there.

Lee ended his amateur career at the weekend after missing the cut at the US Masters at Augusta, Georgia.

IMG's clients include Tiger Woods, Padraig Harrington, Trevor Immelman and former US Open champion Michael Campbell.
