Grey Power campaigns for lower power prices

9:16 pm on 3 April 2013

Grey Power launched a campaign against rising electricity prices on Wednesday, amid concerns some members will not cope with increasing prices this winter.

The chair of Grey Power's energy committee, Allen Davies, says wholesale prices have gone down 22% yet retail prices have increased by 2% and will continue to rise.

He says Grey Power believes the Government is behind the increases, as the companies putting prices up are the main contenders to have their shares sold off.

Mr Davies says the campaign will involve Grey Power members writing letters to the Government and protesting, to push for more commonsense prices for consumers.
