A road trip involving 37 Minis has raised more than $120,000 with a re-enactment of the Kaitaia to Invercargill trip made in the movie 'Goodbye Pork Pie'.

The money will be used to buy equipment such as tissue oxygen monitors for Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, which together cost $97,000.

Event organiser Rod Harris says one team came from the United Kingdom and another from Australia.

Two drivers from West Auckland built their own Mini and raised more than $25,000. Their vehicle is now up for sale on the internet.
