Police say good response to TV appeal

Police investigating the fatal shooting of a road worker in south Waikato say they have had a good public response after a TV show about the case went to air.

George Taiaroa was fatally shot while operating a stop-go sign near Atiamuri on 19 March.

Police say they received about a dozen phone calls following an appeal for information on the programme Police Ten-7 and are now following up on the new information.

Detective Inspector Tim Anderson, who is heading the inquiry, says the response shows there is still more information out there that could assist the investigation.

Mr Anderson says every piece of new information helps.
