Tomahawk crashes on East Cape

8:15 pm on 6 April 2013

A small Tomahawk plane has crash landed on a beach on East Cape.

Police say the incident happened at about 3pm on Saturday at Te Araroa.

The pilot, the sole occupant, walked away from the crash but was taken to Gisborne Hospital as a precaution.

A local farmer shifted the plane wreck up the beach because of high tide, and it will be removed at the owner's discretion.

Tomahawk's are used for training and personal use and second hand planes can cost about $20,000.
