Latin America trade trip a success - NZTE

New Zealand Trade & Enterprise says companies on a recent trade delegation to Latin America got almost 50 leads for new business on the 10-day trip.

The Prime Minister John Key took the delegation of 22 to Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Brazil last month.

NZTE chief executive Peter Chrisp said such trips are extremely valuable for New Zealand exporters.

Company representatives on the trip came away with 49 leads for more business in the region, and some also signed deals.

Mr Chrisp said exporters can work behind the scenes to get their product into new markets, but having the country's leaders meet in person is a huge advantage.

More on this can be heard on Insight on Sunday.
