Wellington council to lift water ban

7:53 pm on 8 April 2013

The Wellington Regional Council is lifting its outdoor water ban from 9am on Tuesday.

The ban has been in place across Wellington City, Porirua, Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt since 16 March after river catchments fell to low levels because due to little rain.

Water supply general manager Chris Laidlow says there has been sufficient rainfall in early April to keep river levels up, but the council will still keep an eye on levels and usage over the next few days.

The MetService predicts about 5mm of rain to fall in the region on Monday and more is expected during the week.
