There are renewed fears for the health of sports broadcaster Tony Veitch after an incident on Saturday afternoon.
Veitch was convicted on Thursday of assaulting his former partner, Kristin Dunne-Powell.
A souce close to Veitch has told Radio New Zealand, friends and family became concerned for his safety when they could not locate him during the afternoon.
It's understood he was discovered by the police near Ngaruawahia and is now being cared for by his family.
Veitch has spoken publicly of the mental health difficulties he's faced since the assault came to light last year.
