An investigation into a privacy breach involving the medical files of cricketer Jesse Ryder is expected to take at least a couple of weeks.
Canterbury District Health Board says four unauthorised staff viewed his x-ray files - one in Christchurch, two on the West Coast and one in South Canterbury.
Chief executive David Meates said two of these people are aware they are now under investigation and the other two were yet to be notified.
He said it is too early to say whether anyone will be disciplined over the breaches.
The board has apologised to Ryder.
