Junk food ban didn't work

A Maori nutritionist says some south Auckland schools have bigger problems to deal with than worrying about what foods they are selling in the tuck shop.

Mason Ngawhika from Counties Manukau District Health Board says healthy eating is often not a top priority

He told Waatea News that a junk food ban failed to make inroads in changing the eating habits of tamariki last time.

He said combining a ban with more education programmes is a good way to engage with whanau.
