Free wi-fi network

Whanganui is rolling out a free wi-fi network throughout the city.

The rollout provides people with up to 100 megabytes of free data per month on wi-fi devices at certain locations, including the airport, the hospital, parks and 19 streets.

Trials have been held some suburbs and at the recent Masters Games event.

Mayor Annette Main said it will be handy for visitors and residents out and about, but is not designed to replace home broadband services.
