8:54 pm on 17 April 2013

A boy has been robbed at knifepoint on his way to school in Nelson.

The 14-year-old was walking through the Railway Reserve, north of Nelson Intermediate, when a man threatened him with a knife on Wednesday morning.

Police say the man demanded that the boy hand over his schoolbag and took his lunch from it.

The boy was shaken by the incident.

The offender is described as possibly Maori, about 6ft tall and aged in his 30s.

Sergeant Lloyd Jones says there is a concern that the man may reoffend and people with relevant information should contact police.
