Mitre 10 store to sue big client

9:50 pm on 19 April 2013

The Mitre 10 Hamilton store is taking one of its biggest clients to court over debt of over $1 million.

Starplus Homes, which builds properties in Waikato and South Auckland, is believed to owe up to $10 million to suppliers and construction companies.

The company shed all its staff two weeks ago, and calls by Radio New Zealand to its offices and lawyer went unanswered.

Mitre 10 Hamilton, which is owed $1.1 million, will next week ask the High Court to appoint an interim liquidator.

Its lawyer, Murray Branch, expects other creditors to support the application.
