Black Caps skipper drops legal action after apology

Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum is dropping defamation action against former cricket player John Parker after receiving an apology.

McCullum's lawyers planned to file papers in the Hamilton High Court this week, over a document they allege makes false and highly damaging claims.

His representatives say the document published by Parker earlier in April inferred that the McCullum was involved in the decision to replace Ross Taylor as captain.

McCullum said he had no option but to take legal action, as the paper made very serious attacks on his integrity, honesty and ethics.

His lawyers say the dispute is now resolved after receiving an apology and retraction from Parker.

They have released a document signed by Parker, which says he did not intend to discredit McCullum and sincerely apologises for any harm which may have been caused.
